You have two ears and one mouth - just listen!
This week has been another interesting learning curve for me. I'm reaching out to a wide range of makers and creators and I've been impressed with the way many have carved out a unique place for their work in what could seem a saturated market. There are many ways to buy and sell and promote and share and to cheer each other on. Don't be fooled into thinking there is one way to ice a cake (or whatever...you know what I mean). It can seem like a mean world out there in social media!
However, I have also been really impressed by the willingness of others to share advice. Tapping into your network of cheerleaders is vital to finding your way! Being tight-fisted with knowledge seems very 1980s, doesn't it? It seems greedy and self-centered and overly-competitive and all the things we don't want to be. So if someone offers you a coffee and a chat, take it. Absorb advice, store it up for when you'll need it; that day will most certainly come and you'll be glad you opened your ears and really listened. Gut feelings can take you so far, but why not be willing to shift and wriggle and realign? Let me know your thoughts on this subject!
In the meantime, we are taking shelter from the incessant rain in London -ah summer in England!
